18 Awesome OpenCart Templates To Try In 2018
2018 is going to be a great year for eCommerce. I could go into the numbers showing the projected growth ($27 trillion by 2020), but if you are here, you already know there's growth because you are part of it. After all, you already have (or are planning to have) OpenCart as your eCommerce platform of choice.
Instead, I'm going to focus on what will help you find the growth you need in your own eCommerce store. We will start that by focusing on the first thing your website visitors and hopefully customers-to-be will notice when they visit your store. That is the design.
This post will cover 18 awesome OpenCart templates that you should try out in 2018, whether it's for your store or your clients' store. These template don't necessarily have to be the released recently, just that they must look great and are designed with conversions in mind.
Okay, enough preamble, let's get to it!
Note 1: Check out the bonus item which is for the admin panel of your OpenCart store not the front end. You'll love it. (I created it)
Note 2: Some of these templates have a loyalty program where you get cash back after a purchase, so check that out too.
1. StoreFlex - Responsive Multipurpose OpenCart Template + RTL
I have to place this first because this is truly a mega OpenCart template! Whether it's fashion or food, standard eCommerce homepage layout or a crazy unique layout, StoreFlex, is the first awesome OpenCart template you should try out in 2018. It is basically the flagship OpenCart template on TemplateMonster the same way Journal 2 from DigitalAtelier acts as the flagship OpenCart template on Themeforest.
StoreFlex has multiple ready-made layouts for you to choose from and comes with a whole bunch of other features like a lookbook product presentation (visitors can click on links to all items displayed in the pictures you post), gift card options, including a promo banner that also gives a timer to give urgency to your promotions. There are more features available and the best way to experience them is to check out the demo to see for yourself.
Being compatible with Right-to-Left (RTL) languages, like Arabic or Hebrew, makes it better suited for more businesses around the world regardless of the store language.
Super Easy to use, I love it. It includes so many features, fully customizable. This was my first time buying a template and I will definitely do it again.
An incredible template with so many options and choices. Took a while to install and a couple of issues which the Template Monster Support team helped to solve.
2. Fooder - Pizza Restaurant With Online Ordering System OpenCart Template
This template is certainly a niche site template. It's one of those templates with designs that you just love and makes you want to buy whatever the store is selling. If you run a pizza delivery, a restaurant or food related business, then this template is for you. For the rest of us that just love the design... all we can do is ogle the design and wish for free food.
Another great selling point for this template is the addition of an online food ordering system so you won't need to purchase another system to add on then be left wondering how to integrate the two databases, logins etc.
I am still reviewing it, it is stable and very good design, what I see wrong is that it only has one layouts that implies more design work to customize.
3. Fresh Food - Healthy & Organic Food Store OpenCart Template
If you are a grocery store owner or you sell food items that are needed on a daily basis, then the Fresh Food template is for you. This premium OpenCart template was designed for healthy and organic foods in mind, but you can use it if you run a grocery store.
From quantity of products listed on the demo, it looks like the developers made it for businesses that have both small and large variety of products. So you don't need to worry if you only have a few products to sell, your store will not look empty.
Pretty! This template is pretty incredible! We love this theme, it is definitely one of the best time-saving tools for web development we have been searching for in a very long time. It is very well tailored to the needs of our industry. Our team has been using your web developing products with varying degrees of satisfaction, but this theme beats the heck out of those. We just love it!
Used for herbs and supplements online store. Installed on OC 126.96.36.199 almost with no problem. Slight issues with Pl language pack (3rd party) however this cannnot be linked to this particular template. Overall we are very satified with the template. Scales nicely on mobile devices and it is quuite responsive.
4. Electronics - Electronic Store OpenCart Template
The first thing I think of when I see this template is "Old School Cool". This Electronics Store OpenCart template follows the layout that most eCommerce websites used a few years ago, which is to dedicate the left side of the store to displaying the main menu, category menu, specials and/or best sellers. While the right side is dedicated to displaying everything else and keeping the customer's attention. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this approach especially since Electronics (the name of the template) does it so well.
As you scroll down the homepage, category or product page, you will notice that the template guides you to the call to action for each product by first showing you a large enough and eye-catching image, next thing you see is the price, then finally, the highlighted add to cart button. I feel the Electronics developers goal with this template was to get visitors from landing page to checkout page as quickly as possible without too much friction.
This template is easy to use and also has a smooth clean layout to customize it for your needs. I ordered this theme for my customer's sports store service, and it was great when I learned it supported several languages(+German & Russian) as my customers tend to be from all over the world. Overall I have a good impression of it!
Customer was very happy after I’ve finished customizing. The code is clean and very easy to modify to my clients’ needs. Will definitely buy here again if it would be necessary!
5. Cosmetorix - Responsive Cosmetics Store OpenCart template + RTL
Not everyone needs a gigantic multipurpose OpenCart template for their store. If you need a template that focuses on just one thing and you sell cosmetics or run a beauty shop, then I recommend this template. Check out the demo and you'll notice how it puts your products on focus. Some templates only focus on being nice but forget that the point of using them is to help you sell your products. Cosmetorix, isn't like that. Your cosmetic products are the feature and crown jewel of this template. You can't go wrong here.
It is a great template, complete and nice finish, it can be easily managed, Spanish is not a language set up in the clean template but it can be adapted easily, also is an almost ready template, the addons included are good.
Beautiful site and easy to manage, needs some tweaking, but works well, very happy with the purchase.
6. VIVA - Clothing Store OpenCart Template
Have you seen the demo of this template? Check it out first them come back. I used to run a web design agency and one of the major reasons projects took forever to start or end was the content! Many clients wanted designs and templates that looked sexy and beautiful BUT what they never realized was that the demo of the templates they saw always had enough content, while the eCommerce store they wanted me to build did not. Plus, they were neither ready to create the necessary content on their own or pay a copywriter to create the content for them. Eventually, this would turn a great looking template into a hideous one.
With VIVA, you can see that it's minimalist approach to content works well for it. It's not meant for a store that has hundreds of product, but for a small or medium size store owner who has a limited number of items.
I also like that on the category pages, it gives you enough space to introduce your product category. This will also help you when ranking for SEO without breaking your design if you have a long descriptions.
I have found very surprised, that the theme itself comes with autoinstaller, with default items and default settings that eased my install process. Also, there are allot of info in the theme folders, and allot of instructions that help a newbie like me. Not all the developers do that so Ițm very pleased that this one does! This is a great theme and have a great way of showing things, even if you are starting a blank project. Thank you!
Great theme to use for my clients fashion brand. I'd recommend it to any company starting out with an online store. The products look good one the pages and Opencart is by far best Shopping cart CMS I have used.
7. Modern Furniture - Interior & Home Decor Responsive OpenCart Template
One theme, unlimited possibilities. The first thing you notice about this furniture and home decor OpenCart template is the way the homepage is laid out in an ikea do-it-yourself furniture type layout. Imagine if this was your own OpenCart store and you had multiple types of furniture categories that you wanted to display before all others. You'd be able to feature your main fast-selling product in the feature area and just below that you can feature other fast selling categories and display them in a way that will guide your customers to the first, second, third and fourth categories all without leaving the homepage.
Take a look at the demo to see what I mean.
This is a very nice theme, i like Templatemonster better each day!
8. Underwear - Lingerie & Underwear Store OpenCart Template
This is another niche template but only for you if you sell underwear or lingerie. I added it to this list because of the way the homepage allows you feature how the underwear would look on your customers. The layout sizes are proportional and have a balance showing you enough of the product for you to know how the underwear would look in real life without sticking the images right in your face.
Another thing I noticed about the Underwear OpenCart Template is that each product leads the customer from image, to price, to "add to cart" button. I think this is important because it nudges the customer towards making a purchase as quickly as possible.
This is a good solid template, easy to modify where required. Strong use of image assets and nicely laid out assets. Navigation is probably a strong detractor for non mobile users.
9. iShop - Computer Store Responsive OpenCart Template
I was really tempted to buy the iShop template for my site. Since my entire website is powered by OpenCart (including this blog), I have been looking for a template to use. I haven't found any that feels like what I want, but this template has come extremely close to it. My website is custom made and I made all the changes, but after checking this sleek design out... I have to say that I am really considering it. I may make some modifications to it if I eventually decide to purchase iShop for my download-only website.
Update: I found a nice template that fits the layout and color scheme that I need for Base5Builder (and it was free!). So if you are reading this, that means you are seeing the new design. What do you think? Let me know if the comments. I'll create a separate list that shows some worthwhile and free OpenCart templates.
This is a good solid template, easy to modify where required. Strong use of image assets and nicely laid out assets. Navigation is probably a strong detractor for non mobile users.
10. Tessa - Fashion & Clothing Store OpenCart Template
Do you have an Instagram page dedicated to fashion? If you do, then this OpenCart template will be best for you. Why? Because Instagram is image-centric and you probably already post most of your pictures there. This template, Tessa, is also image-centric, allowing you use pictures instead of words to convince your potential customers to make a purchase. Just check out the demo to see what I mean. Do you notice that you don't even read the text? All you do is look at the clothing items and say to yourself "Yes, I want that.", "Yes, but in a different color.", "Oh! This one looks nice!" That's what you want your customers saying when they are on your website.
So if you use Instagram or Pinterest to generate your eCommerce traffic, then you will want to check this template out. But a word of caution, if you have a lot of items, then the increased number of images may slow down the speed of your OpenCart store. I wish I could give you an estimate of how many products you should have at most, but I really can't tell from the demo.
My advice would be to focus on optimizing your images when you use this tempalte. Also, remember to play with the demo and use the color settings on the left side to change the color of the site to match your business colors.
The design was just clean and nice, exactly what I needed for my client. Modifications were quite straight forward and source files well organised. Installation as usual well explained in the documentation provided. In the administrative area, modules provided are very useful and is makes designing very easy without writing a single line of code. The responsive feature work quite well on smartphones as well as on tablets.
11. Big Bag - Handbag Store OpenCart Template
Although the Big Bag OpenCart template seems to use bags as its main focus, I can really see this template being used for anything fashion. This template takes the current approach to eCommerce sites, which works well. First, it shows the feature products in a large display (Hero) area, then shows the categories you offer. Next comes a group of your top of the line products and finally finishing up the bottom of the page with lots of promotional items, discounts and brands. I would recommend this template for anyone that runs a store with lots of products. Everything is well spaced so you don't have to worry about it looking cluttered.
Oh, it also has a promo or sale countdown at the top of the page which you can use for all your time-sensitive offers. If you are a small store, I recommend you try VIVA - Clothing Store OpenCart Template above.
...Impressive templates with reasonable prices. They not only produce a wonderful product, they guide you through making the theme work for you! The price is highly affordable! And also responses are fast! Responsive layout and responsive staff.
12. KidFun - Kids Toys & Games Store OpenCart Template
Let's not forget about the kids, shall we? Maybe it's because I'm an adult, but it's hard for me to find OpenCart templates for kids items that have a decent design. Most tend to use the usual generic kids colors (pastel blue, pastel pink) EVERYWHERE, especially in the background. KidFun OpenCart template, on the other hand, knows that it's not the kids shopping for items by themselves, but their parents.
While they do use the same colors mentioned above, they are all in places that you have control over and can easily change as needed. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with those colors, but you must remember that you (your clients) built an eCommerce store in order to make money, so you need to make your store appealing to the target audience while getting across the message that "we are a legitimate business and will delivery your product as promised."
Check out the demo and let me know what you think within the comments.
It’s so cool! You have to try it! The high quality, nicely designed web site template saves us a huge amount of time and effort in creating the professional e-commerce web site. Fantastic functionality in a truly beautiful interface, a wonderful tool for any small business company who wants to develop an attractive site with a relative thin budget. Support is nice!
13. Simple Things - Home Decor OpenCart Template + RTL
As a home decor template, Simple Things does something unique with it's design. Well 2 things. This first is clearly the design, using white backgrounds for the store and also the product images lets you focus on visualizing the products as they would look in your own home. This obviously means that you should follow the same styling when taking your own product pictures. A professional photographer should be able to help you achieve this.
The second unique thing about this OpenCart home decor template is that it places blog articles right there on the homepage and uses the blogs to sell your products for you. Most people that will be shopping for home decor, won't really know what matches what or know how to pick the perfect piece for their home. By having blog posts for your major categories, you get a chance to educate your potential customers and also make your business stand out as an expert in the field. Not to mention, Google will also see you as an expert when people keep coming back to your store, thereby resulting in higher ranking in search results.
If you buy this template, you should add blogging as a standard part of your marketing strategy. I think it will be really beneficial.
Design is clean, professional and simple. Graphic design is relevant, consistent and professional, just fit with our industry need. Great attention to details, all elements are well aligned, with clear visual hierarchy that helps stand out the key message and supporting information.
There are was a few important factors: it looks great, responsive and has a good navigation.
14. GymBo - Responsive multipurpose OpenCart template + RTL
I wasn't sure whether or not to put this one in the list. This template may not be the best template out there but it seems to bring back the age where all eCommerce websites looked exactly the same. That's not a bad thing. Since eCommerce sites are now very different and we have a wide variety of styles, I think having something that stands out will make your OpenCart store look a little different from other stores in 2018.
Basically, this is a safe option because it doesn't do anything wrong and neither does it do anything extremely special.
They not only produce a wonderful product, they guide you through making the theme work for you! The price is highly affordable! And also responses are fast! Responsive layout and responsive staff. They are really helpful and provide a lot of the constructive suggestions to us. Will definitely continue to use! Thanks a million! You're so great!
Nice solution for starting your own business using OpenCart! Very high performance and well developed theme. Easy to customize and insert new features! I recommend it to everyone!
15. Marine Store OpenCart Template
The first thing that comes to mind is "WOW!" The imagery on this template is stunning and communicates exactly what the template is all about: Enhancing your enjoyment of the open sea. Marine Store OpenCart template is certainly image intensive so you will need to have sharp looking images to make it work for your. The template is more sports oriented but if you use your imagination a bit, you could easily change this template to focus solely on fishing gear without the need for all the added high tech gadgets.
As for the amount of content you'll need, it looks like the template is geared toward stores that will have medium to large amount of products instead of just a few products. I don't know much about fishing or the open sea, so I don't know how much equipment is usually needed for these activities.
If you are running a store in those fields then you are in a better position to judge the required content amount, so check the demo before purchasing.
16. Giftior - Gifts Store Responsive OpenCart Template
This template is a must if you run a gift store. When looking at the template details on TemplateMonster, you won't get the sense that it was a great theme... until you check out the demo. While compiling this list, looking for a template for gifts to add to it, I kept skipping over this template because of the less that awesome product intro page on TemplateMonster... until I checked out the demo itself and, boy, was I surprised!
The homepage is organized in the most intuitive way possible and focuses on the products and prices. When shopping for gift items, people tend to shop based on a fixed budget and by simple categories and this template's developers realized that. The homepage focuses on promoting categories instead of individual products. For example: Gifts under $10, gifts under $20, gifts for men, etc. If you run a gift store you'd know how beneficial this is for you.
I once had a client back in 2012 that had a gift shop and needed a website. What I noticed only after taking the job was that she had TONS of gift items both large and small across every category imaginable. I had no idea how to handle the categorization so we finally agreed to just list them all in an unorganized gallery to let the visitor browse every single gift. This template would have solved my problem if it was available back then and I knew of it.
Looks good, flexible with room to grow. Good for beginners or seasoned coders.
17. CosMe - Cosmetics Store Responsive OpenCart Template
You have seen Cosmetorix above and I'm sure you'll agree that it looks great. However, if you are looking for a different style for your OpenCart cosmetics store, I suggest you take a look at CosMe. Just like Cosmetorix, CosMe puts your products front and center without any distractions. What is does differently is adding uniquely styled promotional boxes and category boxes in an intriguing layout that makes you think "Oooh, fancy!" If I were a shopper, I'd actually be ready to pay more for the products displayed on this store even if they were just the same quality and quantity as the ones you'd get any where else.
It also has a large Google Maps plugin that resides at the bottom of the template, just in case you have a physical store. Being OpenCart, you should be able to remove this if you are strictly an online business.
Template is highly compatible across all browsers, and its responsive layout works fine in smaller too. Customer service is very helpful, they helped make some customization and this templates fits us perfect. Thumbs up!
18. Sunny Day - Responsive OpenCart template + RTL
I consider this to be one of the most stylish templates in this list and maybe you will also mark this as the most stylish OpenCart template of 2018? Everything from the classic font used as heading to the small yet prominent top menu just makes it feel as though it's classy without even trying.
Let's do a checklist on this one:
- Focus on showing off your products? Check
- Clearly marking which items are on sale without breaking the customer experience? Check
- Giving categories their own feature section? Check
- All product, category, blog and promotional sections standing out without clashing with each other? Check
The layout of this sunglasses store template looks like it would work well for anyone with medium or larger collection of eyewear. If you have a smaller collection, I'd suggest you check "VIVA - Clothing Store OpenCart Template" in this list which might work better for you.
Easy to install easy to edit and make changes, exactly what I was looking for. The template comes with quite a few nice add-on's that make it easy to change the site and customize it to fit your own needs and wants. I especially like that it seems to work fairly well when the included .tpl files are mixed with the default OpenCart .tpl's (for example if you need to have the layout of the products page defaulted for an extension). Takes a little playing around but not nearly as difficult to manage as others I've encountered
The implementation took place without problems and most importantly fast.
There you have it! 18 awesome OpenCart templates for you to try in 2018. Some of these templates may have been initially released one or two years ago, but they have been constantly updated to meet up with today's standards and expectations.
If you have any more additions to the list, let me know in the comments and I'll see if I can add them to another list.
(Some template links may be affiliate links but that does not affect how I choose the templates)
